Every Day

Every Day

What do you find yourself doing every day? I’m sure it is the usual fare of, showering, dressing, eating, etc. Probably most of those things you don’t even think about. They have become habits. Habits. Are your daily habits all good? Or, do you have some that you wished you didn’t? I think if we are honest with ourselves, we would all need to admit that, yes, we have some daily habits that should go away.

Just for kicks, I looked at these words are found in the Bible: “daily” (63 times) “every morning”(16x), and“every day (21x)”. I was especially drawn to the Gospels where Jesus made references to “daily bread” and taking up our cross daily. Then, I went to the book of Acts, where the early Christians were in the temple daily and breaking bread with others daily, and they were searching the scriptures, teaching and preaching…daily. But then I also noticed that God added to the Church…daily! (Acts 2:42 & Acts 16:5)

Is there anything missing from your every day that should be added? Lets take a look at this list:

Prayer: Do you pray daily? I mean, besides those prayers we pray under our breath as we rush through our morning routine, or while driving to work, or, just before we drift off to sleep after a long day. Do you schedule a time to pray?

How about these words from Scripture? Psa 145:2 Every day will I bless thee; and I will praise thy name for ever and ever.

Psa 55:17 Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.

Bible reading: Do you take time every day to immerse yourself in His Word?

Deuteronomy tells us (Deut 17:19) And it shall be with him, and he shall read therein all the days of his life: that he may learn to fear the LORD his God, to keep all the words of this law and these statutes, to do them

How about just taking time to meditate or think deeply about Him?

Psalm 1 says it best: (NLT)

1 Oh, the joys of those who do not

follow the advice of the wicked,

or stand around with sinners,

or join in with mockers.

2 But they delight in the law of the Lord,

meditating on it day and night.

3 They are like trees planted along the riverbank,

bearing fruit each season.

Their leaves never wither,

and they prosper in all they do.

Every day.

Ok, I admit it. I am a bit of an old car buff. For me, it began as a boy on the farm, when my brother and I could play in the yard, amongst the old cars that were parked in the weeds. Even though they

2021 is here. 2020 is past. At this point, the new year, isn’t quite as “new” as it was three weeks ago… How is your year going for you so far? One thing I try to do, as we begin a new year, is to
